So I found the problem with naming our child. It happened two and half years ago too. Yah...the problem has a name...it's Greg!!! I wanted to name Camden... Parker Andrew before we knew what we were having, but then we moved into our new ward and there were 3 Parker's and a Parker family. I thought hmmm way too popular. So I ditched it. Well now...it's 2 plus years later and I still like Parker and there is only 1 in the ward. He's 4 and adorable so I don't mind using it...plus I'm friends with his mom and she says go for it. So I love it and Greg still isn't on board. Just like he's not with Easton either. He wasn't on board with Camden until he saw the delivery and said fine. But he still isn't 100% a fan. Greg actually calls Camden "bear" and it's been that way since day 1 in the hospital. So I say...well who cares what I name him then, you're gonna call him some animal anyway. But I just don't feel right doing that. I want Greg and I to agree on something.
Greg likes Charleston and Newton and just some golly awful names. So we basically argue any night we have the name discussion. He keeps reading the comments and thinks nothing of all the Parker support I've been getting.
I appreciate everyone's input and suggestions. I have also felt Berkeley sounded girly...and that Andrew and others were too traditional. I need something unique like Camden. My mom's vote is Preston, but that's not on the list. She would REALLY like it to be on the list though.
So I guess you'll just have to see in May what we decide on. Funny story though...Greg and I were up late talking about how I want a name to take to the hospital...I don't want a list. This is how the conversation went...
me: Greg I'm worried I'm gonna be so drugged up from the c-section that I end up naming our child Rainbow Brite or something.
Greg: Oh sweetie, that will never happen.
me: But Greg, you know how my body reacts to drugs...I do weird things.
Greg: it's okay...I would never let you name our child Rainbow Brite. It would definitely be Rainbow Sherbet instead.
uggg...I'm screwed!

Nate says Newton is out because the only word or name that goes with Newton is Fig. I really love Parker. The name listed on his taxes/ tithing envelopes, ect would be Free, Parker.
I love Parker, too. Very cute. And Greg's response sounds exactly like something Gordon would say. I laughed and laughed. :)
Ok... Charleston, I think of a charleston chew, which is a kind of gross candy bar. And as for Newton? What are you trying to do to the kid? Sorry Greg! I had a hard enough time coming up with my own boy name so I'm not much help. Except more and more people keep asking me if my son is named after the alcohol so maybe my opinion shouldn't matter.
I was wondering what name your mom was voting for - she didn't say in her comment.
Anyway, I can understand the problem with Greg. Ryan and I have "heated discussions" about names all the time and I'm not even prego. He's vetoed almost all the names I like - mainly for girls actually. I don't know why men are so picky. Shopping, pedicures, wedding planning and picking baby names is OUR thing! We've been working on this stuff since before we could even talk. These guys didn't start thinking about baby names until we came along - so why do they care now?
So if Greg wants to have a say in this - he better start coming up with some better names. Charleston is too close to Carlston and I won't allow him to butcher such a great last name! And Newton, really? I agree with Brittany - don't screw your kid's life up before he's even born. Give the kid a chance at having friends - come on. (Greg's gonna hate me now, huh?)
Anyway - I'm still on Sariah's side with names. Good luck, hon.
Finding a name you agree on is so hard good luck can't wait to see what it is.
I personally LOVE Charleston but call him Charly! hehe!! I don't like Parker. It was popular a few years ago. You'll find a name!
